Seasons, Best Time To Go

Surfing Seasons in Mexico
When is the best time to go on a surf trip to Mexico?

There are waves in Mexico year round.

Summer:
March through April is when the Southern swells come in, peaking in May-August, and the more southern areas, and south-facing breaks will be best. This is when hurricane south swells may come in.

Winter Time:
October through March is when North and NW swells come in, peaking in Dec-Feb.

Water Temperatures in Mexico:
The water temperatures vary quite a bit depending on where on the coast you are, and what time of the year.

Northern Baja: Pretty cold year round, full suit 3/2 or 4/3 with booties. In summer it may warm up enough to surf in springsuit.

Southern Baja: Full suit in Winter 3/2 to 4/3 with booties, In Cabo only a rash guard or springsuit in needed.

Mainland Mexico: a Spingsuit is needed only for the coldest days, otherwise rash guard or nothing.
